Fitment questions: can someone please school me??

O.k so I have an E92 335i with Sport Package. Is there a certain offset of wheel that we need to stay in when going bigger?

My car is lowered on H&R Springs and as I was having my oil changed there was a guy with an E46 M3 who has a set of 19 inch HRE's and he's selling them.

I asked for the offset on the rims and he was telling me they are 17 and 18 offset, and he's running a 2mm spacer on the back with 275/30's.

I've done a lot of lurking and searching and it looks as though these cars need more like 33-35mm offsets??

I would really be appreciative if someone could help educate me on which offsets seem to work best on these cars.

Depends on the width of the wheels and how aggressive you want the car to look. Do you just want to stick them on and go or are you willing to do some fender work to get them to fit without rubbing? On my pre-lci E90 I thought 18x9.5 ET20 looked great. IIRC the coupes have even more room than the pre-lci sedans.

O.k that makes total sense, so if I was to get a rim with that general offset in say a 19 or 20, it looks like most people are doing a 275/30 or if 20's a 275/25?

I don't mind doing some grinding to get rid of the inner lip, but I'm not trying to push the boundaries of what I can fit back there. I've done that in the past, and think I've grown out of that. hahahahah
