Opinion on muffler and resonator delete

Hello

I would like to get opinions on those that have it done or know someone that has it done. I'm would like to know it's too loud. Obviously their is going to be mix opinions like suspension set up. I use to own a SRT4 and those cars come with no muffler and 2 small resonators. The SRT4 have a great exhaust sound from factory in my opinion. Our to secondary cats act as resonator. I have looked on YouTube and it doesn't sound as loud as the SRT4 on video.

Do the muffler delete only. The "resonator" acts as a muffler as well, removing that will make it annoying to be inside the car, let alone sound like shit to everyone outside.

Loud =/= Good

Trust me keep the resonator unless your goal is to be the loud annoying guy

Trust me. Just save for a decent exhaust system. Don’t waste your time with this.

The E90 328i doesn't have good price exhaust. I my opinion they are overprice. All around $1200, the 335i has the VRSF exhaust at $800.

my n52 came to me with the rear muffler deleted, one of the first things i did was get it refitted,

i love driving my car quickly, but i don't want to create undue attention, performance wise it made no difference, just for me an unacceptable racket

you want to keep resonator especially if you're auto, since kids can control auto shift and its freaking annoying in the neighborhood at night .

just get a valved muffler from ali (pneumatic), they are good, and some big brand sell those with a premium price with a simple badge on it.

iirc i paid 220$ cad few years ago.

fit good and overall, when closed, is quiet as OEM, impressive.
When open, it acts like a legit muffler delete with a resonator chamber to remove drone.

pushing 600whp and it didnt exploded nor busted the valve yet .

Looks ideal, now I'm interested in mimicking your setup. Do you have a link where you bought the parts from?

I went with a Schmiedmann (Danish BMW specialist) exhaust system (from SuperSprint in Italy) that has an x-pipe instead of the resonator and a slightly smaller (than oe) rear muffler, doesn't sound too loud actually. Pipes diameter are probably similar to stock even if there are two pipes running to rear muffler. I think SuperSprints own exhaust system is similar, even if the rear muffler is different (maybe "better" than the Schmiedmann "cheapo"-version? ).

Video from 2021 (or around that time):

muffler : ali

resonator : i dont have the link anymore, but it was a vibrant 3'' 18'' long, bottle style.

cat : was supplied by the exhaust shop, can't tell the brand, should be a high flow one.

The only small cons, is the valved muffler bypass is a 1.25'' pipe. So make a huge difference over the straight 3''. The car is way slower can can't reach boost target. When muffle is close, this is not only quiet at OEM, but you need to drive like a granny.

You can deal with this by getter the ''automatic'' version, which required a OBD dongle permanently plugged in that communicate with the valved muffler module to open the valve at xxxxrpm.

Or find a muffler with a bypass bigger .

also fun mod : Ive retrofitted the muffler flap remote in the blank console button. OEM way to use the open/close
