N54 which oil to use?

Been reading forums and there are suggestions of 0W40, 5W30, 5W40 and some recommend only using BMW oil from the dealership which is not readily available or the dealership tells me its just shell. I want to use Mobil Super 3000 XE1 5W-30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil which meets the BMW LL04 spec. I have used Mobil oils before and think they are good, is this oil ok to use in this engine? Or should I get shell? Any other recommendations or any other oil specs to look for?

Car is a 2007 335i. Thank you.

The Mobil Super 3000 will be just fine. If that's the oil you like best, that's what you should use.

Thanks.
Is 5w30 ok for this engine? I keep seeing conflicting opinions. Manual says approved oil viscosity is 5w30 or 5w40 and to use "BMW high performance" oil.

I think Im going to settle on MOTUL specific LL-04 5w40 for BMW/Mini engines.

5w-30 is what was originally specced. 0w-40, 5w-30, 5w-40, will all be fine. Each would have a climate where it would be the 'best' option but they are very similar. Go with a good quality oil and change it every 5k.

I filled the engine with 6.2L oil instead of the 6.5L capacity and the e dipstick reads max after about 15-20 min driving and oil at 90 degrees. Should I add more or leave it?

Would 5W-40 yield any benefits over 0W-40 in a hotter environment such as DFW, Texas (Pennzoil Platinum Euro/Motul 8100 x-cess gen2 5W-40 vs Mobil 1 FS/Castrol Edge Euro 0w-40)? *All API SP (except Motul, still SN I believe).

You definitely wouldn't need the low-temp performance of the 0W, so I'd say go to 5W. Is it any better... maybe??? Probably cheaper. I think the consensus is get the cheapest oil that meets LL01 specs and change it frequently.
Some even say that you don't need to go that frequently with it, but I think that's based on driving conditions more than anything. I do 10k changes on N52 motors, but 5k pops up as a recommendation for N54 and N55 motors.
