Behavior like this with this administration will insure that there will be a law against non EV's parked in charging stations.

Remember this:
EV driver calls cops on Energy Secretary after her staff blocks charger with ICE car
An EV driver in Georgia called the police on the US Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm, after her staff blocked a public charger with a gasoline car to “reserve” it for her upcoming convoy of EVs that she was using to highlight the White House investment in electric vehicles.

They are experts at looking foolish, lets not help them.
Couldn't she just call out for the ICE car person to move it instead of calling the cops, honestly some have the brains of a rocking horse.

Recently my EV friend is constantly harassed by other EV drivers on the public charging stations. Car stay there for too long, why you are not moving your car, you are not letting other EV to charge......... It is getting worse and worse every day. This is not a good sign. Wait until someone pull out a knife and force you to move your EV or you died.

If you are old or were broke at some point in your life you know about the bogart the clothes dryer rule. Dry cycle done and unattended you have the right to remove someones laundry. Maybe the EV folks will develop the bogart the charger rule? Unattended EV's tying up chargers will be dragged out into the street?

It is already happening. My friend EV car got unplugged for so many times because other EV drivers don't give a shit what other cars are doing at the charging stations. All they care is "I need to get my EV car charge ASAP".

EV cars are great daily drivers and cost next to nothing to own if looking at the perspective of cost per mile.

I have two EV's and they really are the best albeit mind-numbingly boring for daily driver duties. Free charging if bought new - fast, quiet and very techy for the geek in me - For 40k I can't think of a single better car for daily duty other than a Tesla.

I have an STO for weekend duty before I get hate talking positive about electric cars, but if I had to pick ONE car to do everything, I'd much rather have a gas car hands down.

I can't argue with anything you say. Most of the push back on EV has to do how this has been handled. Taking other peoples money to pay people to buy EV's is just plain wrong. Also the CAFE standards and other EPA rules have forced a significant price increase in the cost of ICE vehicles for people that have no intent to ever buy a EV.

The fraud behind Climate change pushing the EV and overall electrification is criminal at best. Anyone that says "the science is settled" lacks an understanding of scientific method and are generally spouting BS they can't support.

That said I would own a Hybrid of even a EV if not for current battery technology.

Are chargers hot swappable? I'm assuming there isn't live voltage at the connector at all times and that there is a relay (or similar) that allows electricity to flow when either connected to a car or the user hits aome buttons (or pays) on the charging station.

Biden admin official says higher tariffs on Chinese EVs are crucial for US automakers
Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm on Tuesday said that the Biden administration's plan to quadruple tariffs on imported Chinese electric vehicles to over 100% in August is crucial to the health of the U.S. auto sector.
"We need to have that industry here," Granholm said in an interview with Reuters on Tuesday. "If we didn't do that, we would just be ceding the entire territory to China like we saw happen with solar panels."

EV enthusiasts here have all agreed they brought the car because they like it, not because its green, perfectly valid point. I highly doubt majority of EV owners today brought their EV because its good for the environment, and if they did they must be dim in the head.

The days of an environmentalist buying EV because it saves the environment are long gone. If I have the option I'd ride a bike or ride the train, but I do not have that option.

I do care about the environment, if buying an EV means I leave a LARGE environment footprint up front for a possibility of a smaller one during ownership (also a largely debunked myth, because its largely dependent on where you get your power from), then I rather keep my shitbox, at least I am not consuming MORE from the earth other than a small drop of oil every year, something they already do, and even if we remove the ICE car permanently this moment, and no one have use for petroleum any longer, it doesn't stop the black gold from being extracted, because it is used in literally everything.

I'm thinking you're wrong on that. As far as government is concerned this is all about the environment, even if we have figured out the grift.

Are electric cars better for the environment than fuel-powered cars? Here's the verdict
Overall, every electric car will produce fewer emissions than its petrol equivalent, no matter where they are charged.
Even with an electricity grid that still uses some fossil fuels, electric cars have much lower overall carbon emissions, and that will continue to drop as the electricity gets greener.

And it is refined at set ratios for fuel vs. chemicals. To re-ratio the refinery industry will cost x-multiple trillions of dollars of private investment and will take XX decades to implement.

More good news!

Here’s How Hot Weather Affects Electric Car Range
Jun 4, 2024
A new study from Recurrent, which analyzed battery readings from 7,500 electric vehicles, found that electric vehicles can lose as much as 31% of their advertised range in sweltering weather.
That’s because getting a sweltering cabin to cool down when it’s 100 degrees outside can take a lot of energy out of the high-voltage battery. But even so, there are ways to alleviate the problem, and–more importantly–it’s good to know that range loss in the summer is much less pronounced than in the freezing winter.

https://insideevs.com/news/721984/ho...ss-study-2024/

What's losing 31% of your range when you're trying to save the planet?

New Ad from Fossil Fuel Motors:
The all new Planet Crusher 4.0 offers 30MPG most of the time but only
20MPG in the summer and 15MPG in the winter.
