Installed the alarm kit for the coupe in my roadster and it worked perfectly. The whole process took about 30 mins. I installed the included hood switch even though I have no intention of paying the dealer to activate the alarm.
I'm happy with the lock/unlock chirps for the time being. Should have come this way standard. My 5er does this without any mods :dunno

My thought as well.
I'll be worth it just for the chirps I'll get my indi-tech to activate it next time he's doing something else for me.

What's the part number for the alarm w/ motion (for the roadsters)?
Also, is this really a 30-60 minutes DIY install? Dealer quoted me $257 for install/activation

took me longer than 30 mins b/c i followed the instructions for the m-coupe thinking it was the same. only till i looked up instructions on my iphone did i realize the si was different. but those instructions i posted are spot on. the hood should take 5 mins. the rear should take 20 mins.

Hi All,
I'm just back from two weeks in sunny Orlando (during which I only saw two other Z4's - a sliver one and an urban green one which looked surprisingly nice). So - am I S-O-L on this deal now? Cheers!

+1 on the part number for the motion sensor? I assume the rest of the M Roadster guys are installing the coup version without the motion sensor?

Very easy install,
Big thanks to Tischer!! I also found the hood sensor a total eyesore, BMW could have done a much better job than that, I'm considering leaving it off as the car still chirps without it installed,

Mous...Is the inclination sensor also the motion sensor? Or is the inclination sensor a deadman switch that is activated when the hood is raised?
I found a reference and part number for a motion sensor but can't find the item. Thanks!

I wish I knew that too as I want the motion sensor. We need to investigate.

^They are two different things.
Inclination sensor detects angle; i.e. it get's picked up by a tow truck.

OK, here is what I can find from realOEM...
INSTALLATION KIT ALARM SYSTEM 1 10/2003 65730309944 $314.95 +core, See EBA 0393087 only in conjunction with -- Oddments tray SCHWARZ 1 10/2003 51467073533 $17.14 -- Rearview mirror EC / LED / Radio 315 MHZ 1 10/2003 51167051897 -- Set of covers mirror baseplate SCHWARZ 1 10/2003 51167062264 $3.94 +core, See EBA 0393087 #65730309944 is for an alarm system. #65730302424 is for an alarm kit. When you look for the specific parts for the kit (I can't find a part #'s, just a listing) you get the following: Control Module - $251.38 Ignition immobilizer Module $125.67 Inclination/motion sensor - $143.83 Siren - ? (no price listed) The kit shown on Tischer shows a hood dead-man switch, sensor bracket, and alarm horn. So, we have two kits. Hood dead-man switch and Siren/horn are common to both...so it looks like we have a chirp when the locks are ingaged/disengaged when installed and not activated. When activated the alarm will go off when trunk or doors are opended without remote key? So...I agree that the chirp is worth the money and you get some theft protection if activated. The ignition kill and motion sensor would be nice adds but you pay through the teeth for both, and you will also need the command module.
