Picked up a 2007 Z4 3.0i a few weeks ago. Alpine white over beige leather. Great roadster!

My friends call me Davey G.
Just bought a beautiful 2004 Z4 2.5 automatic with 54,000m miles on it From a dealer here in Fairport NY. will post pics tomorrow as soon as I find out what I am doing. Having problems with the top which supposedly had everything replaced before it was sold to me. Now it does not go up or down?

Welcome to Z4 ownership! You found a good forum for camaraderie and technical information. The Z4 folding top is a particularly interesting item in that regard! Do some searching and you'll find tons of information, mostly about the motor drowning due to blocked drains.

Hi everyone, I just picked up a white 2006 3.0i soft-top with M suspension and seats, seems to have about every option that was available at the time except navigation. Record looks clean and somewhat well-maintained, but I’m taking care of a few things. I’ve changed the plugs, ignition coils and fuel injectors, will be adding cold air intake, replacing rear wheel bearings and brakes & rotors this week. I’ve heard about a channel that needs to be cleared out to avoid water damage to the motor for the top, is there a thread here somewhere on how to do that?

I’d also like to rewire the cigarette lighter so it’s only live with the ignition on, that would help with the radar detector automatically turning on and off, if there is a thread for that would like a link for that too if someone can help.

Good spec. Consider upping it to 3.0si with a 3 stage intake and tune. Kits are available. It's rare to be able to increase HP by 15% on a NA motor -- with zero reliability impact to boot -- and it really makes the N52 sing.

Sounds tempting, any advice on how to explain the cost to my wife after swearing this won’t be another money pit? (I have a Challenger 6.4L Scat Pack as my other ride, which has been kind of becoming a true money pit with mods)

They said they replaced the left hinge ($2900) and now one day after getting the car back the right hinge is bad? That sounds kind of bullshit to me. They just don't want to fix it for free.

The first day I got the car back I noticed the top did not seat all the way down. You could stick your fingertips under the front edge so it was not re-installed properly.
Wish there was some way out of this. The problem is I love this old car.
It is like me and I am 82. The engine seems so tight and responsive. Anyway, it is under warranty from the dealer but now that they have it apart they want me to replace the pump motor (1200) as preventative maintenance. I said no.

Slightly late but wanted to introduce myself. I've always admired the z4m coupe from afar. I think it's got a quirky but beautiful shape and lines. I have an e46 m3 I track and it's a very fun car to drive. I also own an e30 and sold my 1971 2002 about a year ago. I was fortunate enough that the timing worked and I was able to purchase a coupe from a member here. The car needed the major maintenance done and tlc. So I did the rod bearings and vanos along with some other maintenance parts before really trying to drive it. I'm glad I did, the bearings were showing copper on all top bearings with less than 100k miles.

So far enjoying this car. I'm glad the wheels are interchangeable with my m3 so I threw my re30s. Also gave the car a good detail and paint correction. Hoping to take it to the track to learn it's dynamics at the limit compared to the m3. Fun car, I feel like James bond when I'm driving. Haha!

Beautiful car, I had been looking for a hardtop but settled on the soft. I got my roadster with 100k also, so I’m doing a solid baseline on her with plugs, coils, injectors, intake, brake rotors & pads, oil & filter, and rear wheel bearings. I agree on the fun of driving for sure!

Hi folks

I bought a 2003 BMW Z4 3.0i manual, my first BMW at 78 years old. I bought it as a fixer upper over the winter. I’ve already changed the lower intake tube and DISA valve and now runs like a top. I also have a 2015 Mustang GT manual, both fun to drive.
I hope to learn a lot on this site. The steering seems quite heavy, not sure if this is normal or a problem.
