Had the codes read and it turned out to be the MAF sensor. Since that car had a lot of miles on it I decided to replace rather than try to clean it.

After the replacement car was back to normal...worth a check...
Thanks very much for the advice. I'll pass info on and let you guys know how I get on as car won't be seen to now until Wed. Cheers

Ok, got the car back today and whilst I was collecting we noticed a hissing sound when Revving the engine. My tech noticed at that point that the noise was coming from the big red intercooler pipe. He cleared all the faults before leaving and the car had power again but we have decided to replace the the pipe and seals and engine breather tomorrow and then do a regeneration.

Has anyone ever had an issue with the turbo solenoid?

I've got the same issue, no power in the lower revs but you can feel the bigger turbo kicking in at around 2.5k. This wasn't a gradual issue, it came on suddenly. I'm also getting a deep blowing type noise from the exhaust. Definitely an issue with the smaller turbo.

I had a quick check to see if the boost pipe had popped off but from what I can see looking from the top, it's attached at both ends.

I did however notice that the actuator wasn't moving when revving the engine. However, once I switched the engine off I tried moving it with my hand and it moved absolutely no problem.. Could this be the solenoid? As the actuator itself isn't seized.

Thank you all!

Can you check all the pressure and temperature sensors. If the ecu has a condition that it cannot deal with it may not activate the actuator to protect the turbo.
There a probably a function in ISTA to check actuator action?

I have a problem with my old 535D ambient pressure on ecu and gives below output and cannot get over 40mph, start and stop a couple of times clears temporarily, ned to remove ecu and check sensor.

DME/DDE (Digital Diesel Electronics):
Error code: 0x003F03
DDE: Charge-air pressure sensor, signal, Fault currently present, Plausibility with ambient-pressure sensor at idle, Fault does not trigger a driver information at the moment.
Environmental conditions:

- Logistics counter: 40
- SAE code: 0
- Mileage/km reading: 135984 km
- Engine speed: 661.98 1/min
- Coolant temperature: 91.28 °C
- Rail pressure, actual: 307.2 bar
- Injection rate: 6.3 mg/Hub
- Air mass per cylinder: 397 mg/Hub
- Charge-air pressure, actual value: 571.08 mbar
- Voltage, charge-air pressure sensor: 281.51 mV
- Battery voltage: 14011.65 mV

Good luck
