Post INPA DDE7 N57 (M57) Adaptation Reset - ECU_SURPUNCTION_NOT_SUPPORTED Error

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to reset some adaptations (replaced MAF, lambda etc) on my 2013 35d (USA) with the N57/DDE7 ECU but it's M57, but I'm consistently getting an error and would appreciate some guidance.

Vehicle Details:

ECU: DDE7 N57 (Identified via INPA as D73N57C0)

The Problem:
When I navigate to the adaptation reset menu in INPA (Ansteuern -> Adaptionen loeschen) and press any function key (F1-F4), I immediately get the following error:

ApiCheckJobStatus: Job-Status error
ERROR, ECU_SURPUNCTION_NOT_SUPPORTED__INVALID_FOR
Not Invited off DOWN
Continue script processing?

Clicking "Yes" just continues the script, but it doesn't seem like the adaptation reset actually happens.

Anyone got similar issue?

I can't find most of the things I'm looking for, especially "Delete engine adaptation value". That's what I'm missing the most.

sure, the ista has its own specifics
so you need to have error code to get some ABLs
also how do you think "Delete engine adaptation value" should look like ?
ie what parameter it is ?

the software in petrol engines ECUs for N52 N53 (made by Continental VDO) could not be directly compared with software in diesel ECUs (for M57 and N57) (made by Bosch), they have a lot of differences.
i never saw any such (all adaptations) menu options for these diesel ECUs
you've got an answer to use tool32 on another forum, may be that will help

my personal opinion that is because DDE7 files were designed for DDE7 N47 N57 software, and when BMW created DDE7 files for M57 US 3.5d engine, they limited or closed the functionality (direct adaptation reset) due very strict US SULEV requirements

thats why i advise you to use ISTA, because this is dealer level software and it has some protections for engine, i.e. some service procedures are available ONLY if active error code exist in ECU memory.

Alright, thank you for explanation. Now it makes more sense to me.

Lightbulb

I was told to give it a try with Tool32

Tool32

load D73N57C0.prg

use job adap_selektiv_loeschen and argument 1;1;1 to clear all adaptations, learned variants, etc.
And from what I understand only 808AWD325xi knows how to get it done right
