Matt! good to see your still lurking! The tears were bad looking but according to discount tire, "not something i needed to be worried about". YEAH RIGHT! I can already tell there is a huge difference between the PSS and the stock tires just from day to day driving, i can only imagine how much better it will be when pushed!

thought about it while i was there but it would have been hard to capture on camera phone. It basically looked as though someone took a sharp knife and put some slits from around 1 inch to about 4 inches long. Scary stuff, it explains why my front left tire didn't hold air perfectly like the other ones. All of the slits were towards the inside of the car.

I was going to pick up some rears today. Was hoping to get them in 265/40 but they are sold out nationwide in that size. No one has this size and Michelin has not even begun production yet. So even if production started tomorrow Id be looking at late summer according to Tire Rack. Ugh

i got PSS to wrap the RGR's.
they're the second best tire i've ever had. i really do have to give it up to the direzza star specs. to be fair, the dunlops were on the OEM wheels so we can call it even since 19"s on any tire will have shortcomings to an 18" wheel on the z4m. i have about 500 miles on the tires right now. phenomenal rain characteristics and it's difficult to break traction unless you really try. i can't wait to have an open autocross or track to see how they handle when really warmed up. the outer tread ring looks cool also. additional perks...longer treadlife than a PS2 and less expensive. sooo quiet and great comfort. i think these are suitable for a little track duty, no? these come OEM on the 599 IIRC.

interesting update: I did my first run WOT in 1st getting onto the highway and guess what.... got denied 2nd, first time ever.
My M has always had the stock tires with some age since i purchased it and has never grabbed in 1st, but, it has always gone from first to second without ever being denied. Conclusion? it sounds to me that the chassis is so stiff that with the torque passed on to the transmission, and less diffused on the chassis, it puts the transmission out of normal line. I may be wrong but following my logic it seems to make sense.... And here i was thinking my M was special and free of the denial!!! DAMN! |

I just got PSS 275/35 installed yesterday. Cant wait until the next autocross to see how it handles compared to my old conti extreme. I also istalled powerflex bushings which improved the rear end very slightly. More responsive during heavy accceleration. But so far I love the feel of the bushings and the PSS tire set up

Put these on the 911 and they were a departure in wear and performance from the PS2's. I'm new on the board, having picked up an Imola Red '08 Z4M recently. think some of you may know the car from DKF Performance.
